New Year Nuclear Resolution- Neutralize it!

Neutron Interaction

With every action there is a reaction, that's science and how we're to understand our building blocks of the Periodic Table.

NDT Resource Center:  Nondestructive Testing

In most cases, elements like to have an equal number of protons and neutrons because this makes them the most stable.  Stable atoms have a binding energy that is strong enough to hold the protons and neutrons together. Even if an atom has an additional neutron or two it may remain stable.  However, an additional neutron or two may upset the binding energy and cause the atom to become unstable.  In an unstable atom, the nucleus changes by giving off a neutron to get back to a balanced state.  As the unstable nucleus changes, it gives off radiation and is said to be radioactive.  Radioactive isotopes are often called radioisotopes.

Also for some good study is Jefferson Lab, let's look at some of the properties of radiation and radioactive material.

Alright, that's a great start to understanding the building blocks, kind of like class right and how elements work.  I mean this is how we create and how we can dismantle all elements through the use of electrolytic, heat, cold, gasses, chemicals, other elements, etc and right down to atom smashing.  So man creates Plutonium through Uranium.  The nucleus of the U-235 atom comprises 92 protons and 143 neutrons (92 + 143 = 235). When the nucleus of a U-235 atom captures a moving neutron it splits in two (fission) and releases some energy in the form of heat, also two or three additional neutrons are thrown off.  If enough of these expelled neutrons cause the nuclei of other U-235 atoms to split, releasing further neutrons, a fission 'chain reaction' can be achieved.  When this happens over and over again, many millions of times, a very large amount of heat is produced from a relatively small amount of uranium. (end World Nuclear Association)

Nuclear- Neutralize it!

Now we get to the meat of this post, the toxic waste of nuclear fuel and what to do with it.  A wide variety of methods (some have been around 30 yrs already) will probably be required to accommodate the many different radioactive waste sources including high and low level, solids, liquids and gasses. Process names used here are in some cases just convenient labels used to categorize and set them apart from each other.  Theories on several of these processes are still quite speculative and solid evidence that would pass conventional peer review is still lacking.  This is, after all, a very new field of science.  Some of these technologies are already well protected by international or national patents, with the additional US and international patents pending, and further patents may be obtained on new developments as they are made. (end New Paradigm Digest)

From Brian Fraser:  Adventures in Energy Destruction

The time is long overdue for America to find a new approach to solving the nation’s nuclear waste problem.  That is why I was joined by Senator John Ensign in proposing the creation of a Blue Ribbon Commission of experts to make credible, scientifically sound recommendations for a new approach to nuclear waste.  I am pleased that President Obama (Good job Sir) and Dr. Steven Chu Secretary of Energy agree with this approach, and on March 3, 2010, announced the creation of the Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future.  (end Brian Fraser)

Alrighty then, we have some good news that came out Jan 26th, 2012. The Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future released its final report to the U.S. Energy Secretary, detailing comprehensive recommendations for creating a safe, long-term solution for managing and disposing of the nation’s spent nuclear fuel and high‐level radioactive waste.

Since the inception of the commission we go to February 1, 2013, Chu announced his intent to resign.  Dr. Ernest Moniz has replaced Chu and we'll see what unfolds, the public is involved and monitoring this on many levels very closely with their own money and Crowdfunding.  Hats off to the new public economy, "you alone with good cause."

In addition to his work at MIT, the White House and the Department of Energy, Dr. Moniz has served on a number of boards of directors and commissions involving science, energy and security. These include President Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, the Department of Defense Threat Reduction Advisory Committee, and the Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future.

Happy New Year Mate!

On The Dangers of Nuclear Power

Holger Strohm, author of the critically acclaimed 1973 bestseller "quietly into disaster" (original: "Friedlich in die Katastrophe") talks with Werner Altnickel about the dangers of nuclear power as well as the mostly ignored technical aspects that make this form of energy so dangerous to humanity and planet Earth. Holger Strohm is the foremost expert in Germany when it comes to nuclear power and the dangers of fission. He has been studying this field for more than 50 years and has written several bestsellers on the subject. This conversation was recorded in April 2011 by the team of http://www.bewusst.tv

Merry Christmas to all things Earth

Martin Heck Timelapse Showreel 2013

Understanding the balance of all things will lead humanity to the Holy Grail and that's understanding all matter.  This in itself would be the greatest Christmas present to all humanity, with such science the need to hoard any item will not be necessary, kinda like a printing money machine but in the realm of balance, all would share.  Not just for some, where the scrooge of Holiday fracture tears at beliefs and religion ideology, this is human conceit which keeps dividing us ever deeper from an elementary level that has been here since the beginning of time, a science yet to be revealed, "the balance".

The balance is one element supporting another, without that support the chain is broken and collapses,  just like a DNA strain moves an element here take one from there and we have a person that's physically impaired or NFL quarterback. We can't ignore the building blocks of all life around us, nature does not even consider ideology, this is a human thing that sometimes ends with a Fukushima; idiot thinking.

So the Universe and Earth are our greatest teacher, that's Christmas to me, all things, we're in this together and good explores of our home.  Kinda like Christoper Columbus stepping onto the shores of America but the balance would have it as, the shoreline had been there for some time and you almost crushed that snail coming off your boat where within the tree line was looking out on to you! (all things)  Time will come for all things to move forward or perish but it seems we have a head start on the latter.  My favorite human conceit is our ideology of the food chain, if we were above any food chain you could bust through the Thermosphere and never look back.  But we need aid as in lift to get there, heat to keep us warm, oxygen to breath, artificial gravity in Zero G or the body starts shutting down, shielding from radiation hey wait a minute, radiation lives in an environment of 2.7 Kelvin,  just above absolute zero! Seems to me this energy force is above the food chain, nature herself, "you couldn't be me even if you wanted to".

Old Indian saying, "be still and listen to what in life is calling" and I would like to add that not so much you will hear it, but feel it.  It being all things.

"Merry Christmas to all things Earth"

NASA "Genius Materials"

NASA Genius Materials
If you're a fan of the replicator which already is 3 D Printing and wants to step into the Star Trek Hala Deck it won't be long.  Around the world designers are working on smart materials such as alloys that can change shape on demand, plastics that heal themselves when ruptured, and fluids that obey magnetic commands to flow or stiffen under computer control. "One of the great challenges in creating a smart material is arranging the molecules," says Eric Furst of the University of Delaware. "They're so small!"

In the micro-gravity of Earth orbit, vials of fluid mixed with very small 'colloidal' particles (about a millionth of a meter in diameter) are exposed to magnetic fields. Magnetism is switched on and off again very rapidly. This jostles the particles, causing them to bump together and self-assemble into microscopic structures that currently no supercomputer can predict. "Astronauts enjoy watching this process in action through microscopes because the samples are back-lit by a green lamp, they sometimes call it the 'green blob experiment', says Furst."

Understanding all Matter will be the Holy Grail for humanity.

Happy Thanksgiving for Humanity

Yale University Press
Science will forever push us forward for a better tomorrow and for many of us on this Thanksgiving day NASA has helped and brings us closer together.  As the ISS orbits Earth the advancements in our everyday life have been many in supporting humanity through the coalition of several countries working together in experiments and engineering alone that has created the ISS.   Our lives and health are already changing and it's only going to get better from the results these teams strive for. Soon will come a time where manufacturing is obsolete with the aid in 3D printing and once a man understands all matter I've said this before, will be the Holy Grail for humanity.  In the meantime what has come from experiments and upgrades to the ISS we are utilizing back here on the good Earth.

From ReelNASA:  For generations, we have dreamed about a place to live and work in space...a space station.  And right now, 260 miles above us, moving 5 miles a second...that dream is a reality. We dreamed that life up there would benefit life down here.  That dream has come true.  Can the research on board the space station lead to cleaner drinking water on Earth?  Can it help farmers produce better crops?  Can it inspire a generation of students?  Can it even save a life?  It already has.  As the work aboard the International Space Station begins to reach its potential, the benefits to humanity are becoming evident.  These are just a few of the stories from people who have benefited....told in their own words.

Outback Zone Modern Day Wannabe Aborigine

Here's a fella living in the Australian Outback like a modern day Aborigine. WarblesOnAlot lives on an endangered species sanctuary and allows him to be the gatekeeper of feeding the Kangaroos'.  The man is a survivalist and with that comes engineering of what you have! He has created a small power supply that stores the Sunlight as D.C. in the Batteries, but the Inverter then pumps 240 Volt AC to the Hut & the Shed. He mentions "there's no better way in conserving water, then carrying it, before you get to use it".  Warble gets evolved in many experiments (check out Permanent Magnets)  which he posted on his channel, some work others don't, that's science.  He touches on philosophy, other cultures, for instance, he has remarked the USA as "The Excited States", that's a good one.  Warbles just might be the real "Kangaroo Jack".

From a fella Down Under, WarblesOnAlot

About:

WarblesOnALot was created to spread the word of his SunFoil creation. The SunFoil is a solar panel with its own charge controller, plugged into a car's battery, saving fuel by lessening the load on the alternator.

As time went on WarblesOnALot also became a vlog, with videos of handfed kangaroos, birds and wallabies as well as many other random subjects, from aeroplanes to windmills to bleeding trees to philosophy. Subscribe if you dare.

IRIS Readies For a New Challenge

NASA is getting ready to launch a new mission, a mission to observe a largely unexplored region of the solar atmosphere that powers its dynamic million-degree outer atmosphere and drives the solar wind. In late June 2013, the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph, or IRIS, will launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.

IRIS will advance our understanding of the interface region, a region in the lower atmosphere of the sun where most of the sun's ultraviolet emissions are generated. Such emissions impact the near-Earth space environment and Earth's climate.

Tracking a Superstorm

Hurricane Sandy's near-surface winds are visible in this NASA GEOS-5 global atmosphere model computer simulation that runs from Oct. 26 to Oct. 31, 2012. The model works by dividing Earth's atmosphere into a virtual grid of stacked boxes. A supercomputer then solves mathematical equations inside each box to create a weather forecast predicting Sandy's structure, path and other traits. The NASA model not only produced an accurate track of Sandy but also captured fine-scale details of the storm's changing intensity and winds.
